Suzanne Nielsen art exhibit -- Artist's Reception
Filed under: Featured Event, Theater or Arts Event

Event Date: Monday, Mar 11, 2013 5pm - 7pm
Location: Whiting Library, 117 Main St.

The Whiting Library on Main Street presents the art of Suzanne Nielsen through Saturday, April 6. Born in Pasadena, Calif., Nielsen began both riding and painting lessons at the age of 5, becoming immersed over the next decade in fusing these two passions together. Nielsen studied at the Art Center College of Design, in Pasadena CA. She earned her degree in fine art from California Polytechnic University in Pomona. A move to Chester turned her painting focus even more sharply to the world of horses. Nielsen is still surrounded by horses and art as she continues as a working artist. “Some of my earliest memories are about the interaction of either horses or art. Like so many I became enamored by the grace and majesty of these incredible animals. I portray horses as I see their strengths and at the center of it all, I hope you find their heart,” she says. Nielsen's work can be viewed Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10-6 and Saturday from 10-2. An artist’s reception is planned for 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, March 11 at the library. You can also see the wonderful new painted room thanks to the talent and generosity of Mosher Painting of Chester.
